Best Things To Do In Turks And Caicos
If you’re looking for the best things to do in Turks and Caicos, we’ve got you covered. The region boasts an endless list of activities for you to enjoy, whether you’re traveling solo, with your partner, or with friends and family. Below are our top things to do in Turks and Caicos to help you plan your trip.
Go Snorkeling With The Fishes
There’s a popular beach for snorkeling on the western end of Grace Bay. It’s called Bight Reef but is sometimes referred to as Coral Gardens.
The water is crystal clear, and you can get close to turtles, lobsters, and colorful reef fish!
Some other great destinations for snorkeling on the islands include Turtle Cove, Malcolm’s Road, Salt Cay, and Northwest Point.
If you don’t feel like going out on your own, there are companies in the area that will take you on a snorkeling excursion. They’ll boat you out to some of the best snorkeling destinations and tell you what to look out for. These excursions often include some food and drinks as well, making for a great day out!
Lounge On The Beautiful Beaches
This is what you came here to do, right? It’s one of our favorite activities on the islands as we love getting some downtime in the sun.
Grace Bay on Providenciales Island has been voted the World’s Best Beach, and it’s easy to see why! We love lounging on its white sand, catching a tan in between dips in the turquoise water. It’s a public beach, so it’s free to access.
Go Kayaking
Kayaking in the region gives you the opportunity to see marine life up close. If you choose your day correctly, you’ll see heaps of turtles, stingrays, and starfish. It’s a dream.
Better yet, most rental companies give you the option of renting a clear-bottom kayak. We suggest going on a clear, windless day for the best chance at seeing a variety of marine life.
Horseback Riding On The Beach
Exploring the beaches of Turks and Caicos on horseback is a real-life fairytale. The best beaches to do this are Blue Hill Beach, Long Bay Beach, and Five Cays Beach.
We’ve had loads of fun doing beginners' rides, but there is something for every level, even experienced equestrians. The horses are well-trained, so this is a perfectly safe activity.
Enjoy A Boat Cruise
Boat cruises are the best way to see the smaller, uninhabited islands between Providenciales and North Caicos. The smaller islands are referred to as cays and have miles and miles of pristine beaches.
Depending on which cays you choose to visit, you can see iguanas, lagoons, and sunken cannons. Leeward Reef is one of the cays and is perfect for snorkeling. We suggest a guided excursion for the optimal experience.
Give Parasailing A Try
Want a birds-eye view of Providenciales Island? Try parasailing!
Most flights are between 15 and 20 minutes long and give you a view of the island from 200 feet in the fair. This gives you an incredible view of the white beaches, crystal clear waters, and barrier reefs.
Explore The Conch Bar Caves
The Conch Bar Caves span a distance of over 1.5 miles and are named after the nearby area, Conch Bar. They’re one of the cave systems that aren’t submerged in water in the Caribbean, giving you the exciting opportunity to explore them!
There are guided tours available through The National Trust. They last between 20 and 30 minutes, and give you the chance to take in the cave formations, and have a look at the ice-like stalagmites and stalactites, lagoons, and even bat colonies.
Visit The National Museum
The Turks and Caicos National Museum can be found in Cockburn Town on Grand Turk island. It's the country’s only museum but is filled to the brim with interesting pieces of history, making it a must-visit in our opinion.
You’ll learn about the indigenous people of Turks and Caicos, as well as see the oldest European shipwreck found in the Western hemisphere.
Begin Your Turks And Caicos Adventure
What are you waiting for? There’s an endless list of exciting adventures awaiting you in Turks and Caicos.
Every day in the region is like paradise, with warm weather and calm seas. It’s the perfect vacation destination!
