Celebrity Cruises Promotes Katina Athanasiou to SVP of Sales

Celebrity Cruises has announced that Katina Athanasiou will become the brand's next senior vice president of sales, replacing the recently retired Dondra Ritzenthaler.

Athanasiou joined Celebrity as Vice President of Sales, the Americas, in January.

"Katina has a proven track record in the travel and hospitality industry, and she really understands how to drive business in the Americas," Ritzenthaler said in a statement last December. "Her experience and knowledge will be an invaluable asset as our fleet grows and offers a variety of options to sail to every continent."

Athanasiou brings more than two decades of industry experience to her new role. Prior to joining Celebrity at the start of the year, she served as Senior Vice President, Sales at Silversea Cruises. She also has previous experience as the Chief Sales Officer for Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, in addition to a variety of other sales management roles.

The announcement comes after Celebrity president and CEO Lisa Lutoff-Perlo stepped down from her role to transition to vice president of external affairs for Royal Caribbean Group. She was replaced by Laura Hodges Bethge.
