Chris Hemsworth May Star in Disney's New Prince Charming Film
Chris Hemsworth might have something new to make life divine.
The Thor actor is in early talks to take on the title role in Disney's new live action film Prince Charming, according to multiple outlets.
E! News has reached out to reps for Chris as well as Disney, but has not heard back.
Plot details about the film—which will center around Cinderella's prince—are being kept under wraps with no release set date yet. However, it was confirmed by Deadline last week that Paddington 2 and Wonka director Paul King is set to direct, with a script written by Paul, Simon Farnaby and Jon Croker—both of whom worked with Paul on the script for Paddington 2.
A movie focusing on Prince Charming was first in development at Disney back in 2015 with a script by Matt Fogel, however it appears those plans have shifted.
If Chris is to be crowned Prince Charming, the 41-year-old is no stranger to taking on roles in live action fairy tale retellings, having previously played The Huntsman in 2012's Snow White and the Huntsman and its 2016 sequel The Huntsman: Winter's War alongside Charlize Theron who took on the role of the Evil Queen, renamed Ravenna for the films.
The Avengers actor has also never been afraid of diversifying his acting credits, most recently when he voiced Optimus Prime for Transformers One. That animated film got a very special reaction from Chris' biggest critics: daughter India Rose, 12, and twin sons Sasha and Tristan, 10, who he shares with wife Elsa Pataky.
"They loved it," Chris recently told E! News. "Five stars. Out of five! Just to clarify, not out of ten."
And while he admitted he was hesitant when he first got the script, it was his children's enthusiasm that ultimately pushed him to say yes.
"They said, 'Transformers! You have to do it!'" he recalled. "And I wasn't even aware they had watched Transformers much, but you sort of forget it's everywhere, every generation."
But as for what they would consider the best movie featuring their dad?
"Ragnarok is probably their favorite," Chris noted. "They probably go back and watch that the most."
