Delta Air Lines Launching Carrier’s First-Ever Bahamas Flights from Miami

Delta Air Lines is launching the carrier’s first direct flights to Nassau, Bahamas’ Lynden Pindling International Airport from Miami International Airport starting November 5. The daily flights will operate year-around, Bahamas government and tourism officials said this week.

Florida represents the territory’s primary U.S. source region, with Miami “delivering over 70,000 visitors to The Bahamas during the first six months of 2023,” according to Ministry of Tourism officials quoted in media reports.

The new flights are due to “the incredible demand for the destination and the reward of our efforts to strengthen partnerships to increase stopover visitors to our shores,” said Chester Cooper, the Bahamas’ minister of tourism, investments and aviation.

“The route will help satisfy that demand and it will also help Bahamians get to and from Florida easier,” said Cooper. The Miami-Nassau service will utilize Delta’s Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

The new service will provide additional air options for travelers to the Bahamas Culinary & Arts Festival, scheduled for October 27 to 29 at the Baha Mar mega-resort.

The event will feature top chef talent including Marcus Samuelsson of Marcus at Baha Mar Fish + Chop House, Katsuya Uechi of Katsuya, and Dario Cecchini of Carna.

With the new route, Delta will now serve Nassau from U.S. airports including Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta, Boston Logan International, and John F. Kennedy international and LaGuardia International in New York.
