Liam Payne Shared Heartbreaking Message on Son Bear, 7, Before His Death
Liam Payne’s legacy will live on in his son Bear Grey Payne.
The former One Direction star suffered a fatal fall on Oct. 16 from the third story balcony of his Argentina hotel, local medical personnel told Telemundo. He is survived by his 7-year-old son Bear, whom he shared with ex Cheryl Cole.
In the wake of Liam’s death, a Snapchat video taken on his 31st birthday in August has resurfaced, in which he shared a final message about his only child.
“I didn’t get any dad socks yet,” Liam quipped in the video, shared by the Daily Mail. “But I am going to speak to my son in a little bit, which I’m really excited about. Bless him.”
As for his thoughts on Bear, the former boy bander gushed, “He’s so big now. He’s a big boy, and he looks like a mini-me, as if we need anymore me in the world.”
Though Liam and Cheryl opted to not share photos of Bear’s face publicly throughout the little boy’s life, Liam was known for sharing updates on his son with his fans.
In one past clip shared by the Daily Mail, Liam shared, “I can see a lot of myself in him. He did something really cute this week that I have to mention. He was like, ‘Oh, we need here now, Daddy.’ Bless him. Made me want to cry.”
The star’s untimely death has left his fans and loved ones in shock.
In the afternoon of Oct. 16, police had received a 911 call from the same hotel "reporting an aggressive man who could be under the influence of drugs or alcohol," according to a statement from El Sistema de Atención Médica de Emergencias (SAME). Police did not share if substances were actually involved.
