Los Cabos Warning Tourists About Some Beaches

One of the most popular destinations in Mexico is warning tourists.

No, there's no violence on the beaches.

It’s just the waves.

Officials in Los Cabos are warning tourists to take all precautions when at the beach, which is notorious for large waves and strong currents.

In fact, it’s not just Los Cabos, but nearby San Jose del Cabo as well. Most of the beaches in that area are not even swimmable right now.

Clearly, the weather conditions in the lower half of the United States have come into play. Water temperatures are almost 100 degrees in some spots. Where the beach once served as a respite to cool off is now a cauldron.

The National Meteorological Service is reporting that there are strong, gusty winds that might be causing rip tides as well. It is also important that tourists pay attention to the flag system implemented for the beaches.

Green, of course, means go and that the beat is open and safe. A yellow flag is an indicator to use extreme caution while at the ocean. A red flag means that the beach is open, but swimming is prohibited. A black flag indicates that the beach is closed.

Los Cabos also uses a yellow flag to let people know that the beach is open but to use extreme caution.

It’s also important to utilize common sense and stay close to the shore and close to lifeguard stands.
