After Natalee Holloway's murderer Joran van der Sloot admitted to killing her, Matt Holloway called him a “psychopathic liar.” Natalee's brother explained that he does not believe in Sloot's apology and his claims of finding god. Matt, who is a former correctional officer doubts that the Dutch national is a “born-again Christian,” after killing his sister. “He’s been such a liar his whole life — that’s what he is, a psychopathic liar, so I take it lightly. I mean, I believe his confession — that’s what we’ve been waiting for for so long: for him to admit that,” Matt said.

Speaking about Sloot's sentencing of 20 years for Natalee's murder, Matt said that he will “whoop his a**,” in case he ever walks out, as per TMZ. Last week Sloot confessed to murdering Natalee, revealing that in 2015, he smashed the then 18-year-old's head with a cinderblock and dragged her body out to the ocean after she snubbed his sexual advances by kneeing him in the groin, during a school trip to Aruba. The confession was part of a plea deal he made with the US prosecutors in a case for extortion and defrauding of the Holloway family.

Matt also revealed that he feels Sloot's father, who was a high-profile lawyer in Aruba at the time of the murder potentially interfered in the investigation, which is why her murder remained unsolved until now. Natalee's brother has also called out to the Aruban government to look for any potential charges against him. He also believes that his sister's killer was able to dodge the authorities due to corruption. Moreover, Natalee's half-sister Kaitlyn also revealed that her family thought Sloot was initially lying when he made the confession, as per NY Post.

Additionally, Sloot also pleaded guilty to trying to sell information about where Natalee’s body was buried to her mother, Beth, in exchange for $250,000. After leading the Holloway family to dead ends, he ran off to Peru, where he killed another young woman, Stephany Flores, on the fifth anniversary of Natalee’s death in 2010. Sloot is currently serving a 28-year prison sentence in Peru for the young woman's murder. Moreover, in 2021, he was convicted of drug trafficking and was sentenced to another 18 years in prison.
