Royal Caribbean’s Utopia of the Seas Celebrates Latest Construction Milestone

Royal Caribbean International’s Utopia of the Seas, which is scheduled to inaugurate service out of Port Canaveral, Florida, in July 2024, was floated out for the first time at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, where it is under construction.

“The process itself took nearly 15 hours, beginning with filling the new ship’s dry dock with more than 46 million gallons of water overnight,” Royal Caribbean said. “Utopia was then move into an outfitting dock, where it will be completed in summer 2024.”

The 18-deck Oasis Class ship will be equipped with a number of one-of-a-kind features and amenities, including upward of 40 food-and-beverage options, the 295-foot-long Ultimate Abyss, the longest dry slide in the cruise industry and “a first-of-its-kind immersive train car dining experience,” Royal Caribbean said.

Utopia of the Seas will sail on three- and four-night cruises from Port Canaveral calling at Nassau and Perfect Day at CocoCay, Royal Caribbean’s private island.

The 236,8600 gross ton ship will carry 5,668 passengers, double occupancy, and will be powered liquefied natural gas.
