Travelers are invited to explore Baja like never before with UnCruise Adventures' new Northern Gulf of California: Whales, Birds & Sealife Adventure.

The itinerary takes guests deeper into this wildlife mecca where they can kayak, paddleboard and swim up close with wildlife on the Baja Peninsula.

The 10-night adventure explores the Sea of Cortes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a natural aquarium. Opportunities for guests include snorkeling with sea lion pups and colorful reef fish, riding a mule into the arroyos with a local rancher, spotting hummingbirds, cormorants, Great Blue Herons, Blue and Red-footed boobies, pelicans, and Magnificent Frigatebirds and more. Guests can also hike among the desert shrubs and cacti.

The cruise departs from San Jose del Cabo/La Paz and calls in Loreto Bay National Park, Bahia Concepcion, Santa Rosalia Town, Bahia de los Angeles, Isla Salsipuedes, Isla San Esteban, Mulege Town and Mission and Agua Verde before returning to San Jose del Cabo/La Paz to disembark.

UnCruise also offers a seven-night Baja California sailing adventure. The Baja California's Whales & Sealife also explores the Sea of Cortes and also begins in San Jose del Cabo/La Paz. There are calls in Isla San Francisco, Bahia Agua Verde, Isla Coronado/Loreto Town, Los Islotes/Isla Partida and a stop at Isla San Jose, Evaristo, or Nopolo before disembarking in San Jose del Cabo/La Paz.

Both cruises include a day tracking sea life, searching for baleen whales, where the Sea of Cortes is home to the largest of these magnificent creatures. The Sea of Cortes is also home to fin, blue, and sperm whales and pods of dolphins number in the hundreds--it is a place that is literally teeming with wildlife.

For those who want to time their journey to see gray whales, they arrive in the region in Mid-January and stay on the West Coast of Baja to calve in Bahía Magdalena. UnCruise offers excursions across the Baja peninsula to see the whales on a panga ride.

One of the highlights of a visit to the Sea of Cortes is the chance to swim with whale sharks. The best time to travel to see them is mid-March through April when they are near La Paz and in other parts of the Sea of Cortes.

Seven-day Baja sailings are offered by UnCruise January through April, and the 10-day journey is available starting in November 2024.
