Sarah Jessica Parker Reacts to Megan Thee Stallion’s Sex and the City Character Critiques
Megan Thee Stallion couldn’t help but wonder why she didn’t watch Sex and the City sooner.
Because now the “Body” rapper is brimming with hot takes. Megan recently revealed that she just got around to binge-watched the hit show starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon for the first time—and it quickly became all-encompassing.
“Nobody told me Sex and the City was this good!” the 29-year-old quipped during an Oct. 23 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “I’m pissed. Nobody said, ‘Megan you should be watching Sex and the City for the culture’… I started watching the show and I cannot look away. I’m watching it while I’m working out. I’m watching it while I’m in glam. I’m watching it while I have nothing else to do, and I’m a busy girl.”
And she didn’t hold back in sharing her opinions on the iconic four ladies: Parker’s Carrie, Davis’ Charlotte, Cattrall’s Samantha and Nixon’s Miranda. But when Evan Ross Katz reshared those takes on Parker chimed in in the comment’s section, simply writing, “Hmmmm….”
As for Megan’s many thoughts? For starters, she’s definitely Team Samantha.
“Is this not a picture of me?” Megan quipped when looking at the photo of Cattrall as the sex-positive PR boss. “Because she is me. I’m her. When Sex and the City first started for me, I said, ‘Oh, I hate this character. Why y’all making her like sex is the ruler of my life.’ I was like, ‘It’s a horrible character.’ But then as the show kept going, I’m like, ‘Wait a minute.’”
As for why the “Hot Girl Summer” artist related to Samantha, she noted, “She runs men. She don’t let men run her. She keeps trying to tell the girls, stop making the man the center of your life.”
And while she doesn’t see herself as a Charlotte, Megan would like to be in the homemaker’s orbit.
“My girl. She is a little delulu, but it’s cute,” Megan said of Charlotte. “She would be my bestie because she’s so emotional, and I feel like it’s okay to cry. It’s okay to be a little crazy.”
However, the “Bongos” emcee is not a fan of high-powered lawyer Miranda.
“This is the worst character on the show,” she insisted. “I cannot stand Miranda. She never got nothing good to say. She’s so sad all the time.”
And in the divorce, Megan would pick Miranda’s ex Steve (David Eigenberg) every time.
“First of all, Steve, is the best character on the show,” she gushed. “How can anybody even fix their lips to be mean to Steve and Miranda figured out a way. The only thing Steve ever wanted to do was love this crazy lady.”
And though she thinks sex columnist Carrie Bradshaw is “pretty as f--k,” Megan questioned some of her behavior on the hit HBO show.
“She’s always attractive doing these sicko things. She’s nuts,” Megan said. “But you know what? I see a lot of myself in this character. Carrie really loved drama. She’d literally wake up and figure out, ‘How can I mess up everybody’s day? How can I be my cutest and mess up everybody’s day?’”
But that doesn’t mean Megan is against Ms. Bradshaw. In fact, as she put it, “She could have chose sanity but she always chose insanity, and I had to wonder, is that me?”
