E!: What is your number one skincare tip that you stand by?
SJ: Develop a routine you can stick to. I think I've got mine down now, and the key is to keep it streamlined—that’s why The Outset routines are always straightforward and efficient. You don’t need a 16-step routine to get great results.

E!: What would you say is the hero product from The Outset that you hear about the most from shoppers?

I asked one of our facialists here why this happens and they explained that it’s because the serum prepares your skin to receive the moisture and goodness of any products you apply afterwards, so when you skip this step, the results are really noticeable."

E!: Do you have any funny or regrettable skincare trends you've tried?
SJ: Never get a cortisone shot to get rid of a pimple. I was warned by a make-up artist about this years ago. She told me about an actress who had a big scene coming up but had a pimple she needed to get rid of. So, she went to the dermatologist to get a cortisone shot to get rid of it and it left a huge crater (which looked much worse). 

Stupidly, I didn't follow this advice and a year later got it done myself– and I can confirm it does leave a hole! So, avoid it if you can. I’ve managed to massage it away over time but it’s probably one of my biggest beauty regrets.

E!: All of the videos with your husband Colin Jost using The Outset products seem to go viral. Which product does he reach for the most?
SJ: All of them, but he’s a big fan of the Micro Polish. It’s really amazing this time of year for getting rid of dead skin and we always have one in our shower.

"As someone with sensitive skin, I’ve always been afraid of exfoliators so I love that our Micro Polish is gentle enough for anyone to use."
