Southwest Airlines Extends Flight Schedule to All-Time High 4,526 Departures

Southwest Airlines is taking advantage of the current surge in travel demand, extending its flight schedule well into the summer of 2024 to allow travelers to book trips through August 4, 2024.

The low-cost carrier's published schedule has grown to an all-time high of 4,526 departures, it said Thursday.

The extended schedule includes new or seasonal service beginning in June, including daily service between Orlando, Florida and Cancun, Mexico; Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands; Nassau, Bahamas; Providenciales, Turks and Caicos; Punta Cana, Dominican Republic and San Jose, Costa Rica starting June 4, 2024.

Southwest is already the largest carrier serving Burbank, California and will expand its presence with daily nonstop service between Burbank and Boise, Idaho; Kansas City, Missouri; New Orleans; San Antonio and St. Louis beginning June 4.

Also launching June 4, Southwest will fly daily nonstop service between Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Baltimore/Washington.

Finally, the carrier plans to offer seasonal service from Dallas and Nashville, including Saturday-only flights between Dallas (Love Field) and Buffalo/Niagara, New York; Fresno, California; Providence, Rhode Island and Spokane, Washington.

Southwest will launch seasonal, Saturday-only service from Nashville to Bozeman, Montana and seasonal, Saturday and Sunday service from Nashville to Grand Rapids, Michigan.
