Most people dream of a Caribbean getaway, but as the date draws closer so does the anticipation.

Flying into and landing at your desired destination doesn’t necessarily mean that your vacation is about to start. You still have to navigate your way to your resort, which can be up to an hour away, and sometimes more.

Perhaps one of the easiest, if not the easiest places to get to is Aruba. You can step off the plane and literally start your vacation within a matter of minutes.

Most of the major hotels and resorts are just a short car ride away from the main airport in the capital city of Oranjestad. The island, off the coast of Venezuela, has several beaches but the most popular are Baby Beach and Palm Beach, which is where most of the hotels and resorts are.

Aruba is home to several major hotel chains, including Marriott, Hyatt, Renaissance and more.

Aruba is serviced by most major airlines, including American, JetBlue, United, Delta, Spirit, Southwest and Air Canada, to name a few.

But it’s not the flight that makes it easy to get to Aruba. The ease of getting around, especially by taxi, renders the use of rental cars needless. The proximity of the airport to the major hotels makes things much, much quicker.

Palm Beach is considered the place to stay because it is closer to the airport, closer to town and is home to the major hotel chains. Baby Beach is beautiful but is more of a day trip and requires the use of a rental car. It has bluer, but rougher waters.

And you will need a car to get to the Alto Vista Chapel, said to have been originally built in the 1750s. It is definitely a must-see tourist attraction.

But utilizing a taxi or the hotel shuttle is the best way to get around and super easy. Oranjestad also has an active port in the middle of town, making it easy for those who are arriving by cruise ship.

The airport looks small, but it is easy to traverse and you can get through pretty quickly.

If the convenience of getting out of the airport and to your destination fairly quickly is high on your list, then Aruba is the place for you.

It is worth noting that Aruba is part of what is known as the ABC island chain, including Bonaire and Curacao, and is completely out of the Atlantic hurricane belt.
