Barbados Set for a Boom of US Tourists
The Caribbean island of Barbados is preparing for an onslaught.
And that’s a good thing.
Working an upshot in visitors from the United States is expected to boost growth to Barbados this winter season. Capacity is set to surge past the pre-pandemic year of 2019 thanks to an influx of new travel by air.
Eusi Skeete, the U.S. Director for the Barbados tourism ministry, said in a statement: “Barbados continues to be a top travel destination among the U.S. market. … Our creative advertising campaigns in major gateways and feeder cities have directly contributed to the island’s tourism growth, and we are witnessing the evidence of their success through these projections.”
American Airlines will introduce a third daily flight to Barbados from Miami. The extra flight will begin on December 20 and end on April 3.
“This comes following a very successful partnership with AA to augment the daily service from Miami during the summer period,” Skeete added. “From August 15 to September 5, capacity was boosted with the introduction of a third daily flight to Barbados … This enhanced airlift capacity for winter surpasses that of 2019."
Other airlines, such as JetBlue from Boston, will increase their expanded offerings to Barbados. Jet Blue also extended its service from John F. Kennedy International in New York to Barbados through February.
American will also add service to Barbados with a daily flight beginning on December 7. Charlotte is one of Americans hubs.
United Airlines will join the mix to Barbados when it offers year-round service from Newark Liberty International Airport starting on September 30, and from Dulles Airport in Washington on October 30.
