Big Brother's Francesca De Andre Hospitalized After Accidentally Ingesting Detergent

A former contestant on the Italian version of Big Brother is recovering after being hospitalized for accidentally ingesting detergent.

Francesca De Andre—who appeared on season 16 of Grande Fratello in 2019—detailed the disconcerting tale after returning from the hospital.

"At home, happy and you mistake the glass of detergent left there by mistake for yogurt," De Andre said in an Oct. 31 Instagram post translated from Italian. "I risked death today.. and maybe also those who were worried about me when they saw and heard me sick and screaming from the pain of internal corrosion and being forced to run to the hospital...."

The reality star went on to share how much harm she could've done to herself because of the mixup.

"The detergent risked damaging my liver, appendix, stomach, intestines," De Andre wrote. "Not to mention the corroded respiratory and gastrointestinal systems."

The 34-year-old made sure that her harrowing experience could serve as a cautionary tale for others so that nobody else goes through what she did.

"I feel like saying be careful," she said, "especially children and animals who may have access to it."

De Andre added that this was "just a moment. Now we're here, after that we don't know."

This is not the first health scare for the niece of famed Italian singer-songwriter Fabrizio De Andre.

Last September, according to Il Gazzettino, she was hospitalized after an ultrasound uncovered masses that needed immediate removal and they turned out to be cancerous.

When sharing the story of that situation with her followers, De Andre revealed that she "can no longer have children naturally" as a result of the subsequent surgery, during which doctors "had to take everything [out]."
