Crystal President To Take Leave of Absence

Crystal has confirmed that its president, Jack Anderson, will be taking a leave of absence from his role to attend to personal matters.

A cruise line spokesperson recently commented on the temporary departure, according to Seatrade Cruise News. The company confirmed that Anderson will be at Crystal’s inaugural cruises in July and August. Seatrade Cruise News also reported that Anderson has released the following statement: “I have tremendous confidence in the new Crystal team and the exceptional experience they will create."

In the meantime, Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group CEO Cristina Levis is leading the line's day-to-day operations, according to TravelWeekly.

Anderson is a well-known and respected veteran in the cruise industry, who has also worked at Seabourn, Carnival Corp., Holland America Line, and Windstar over his career.

Crystal cruises abruptly ceased operations in February 2022 after its parent company, Genting Hong Kong, filed for liquidation in January. At that time, Anderson was the president and CEO of the cruise line and also served as senior vice president for worldwide marketing and sales and vice chairman.

He returned to the rebooted cruise line in July 2022, at a time when the cruise line’s guest lists and its two ocean-going ships were taken over by Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group. After being acquired by A&K, the former Crystal Cruises relaunched as Crystal.

Currently, the Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony are undergoing massive transformations that will result in larger suites onboard and more limited occupancy levels overall. They are expected to resume service in late July and early September, respectively.
